Yvonne Post and Denise Sheehan, Founders We met in 2004 while training as Holistic Health Counselors and discovered that many of our personal visions were complementary. In 2005, we began our collaboration creating and developing programs while working at Vollmecke Orchards and CSA in Chester County, PA. We continue to work in the sustainable agriculture community and actively participate in the creation of our local food system, nutritional outreach in underserved communities and whole food cooking and nutrition education. Today we continue to expand our offering of programs and seminars in our range of expertise in whole food cooking and nutrition with a focus on current health topics and issues, the local food system, and sustainable living. We are committed to outreach and getting our primary message of whole food nutrition and empowerment through food security to people of all ages, populations and demographics. Our Credentials: As an educator in Bergen County, NJ for 15 years, as a teacher and school librarian, in 2002, Yvonne created an Early Education Center, incorporating hands-on cooking and nutrition programs in the curriculum. With a bachelor's degree in Community and Human Services from Empire State College, her interest in nutrition led her to become a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in NYC with a certification in holistic health counseling. In 2005, Yvonne co-founded Cooking For Real, a hands-on cooking and nutrition education company, where she currently designs and teaches programs, workshops and educator trainings in whole food cooking and nutrition in PA and NJ. Yvonne's mission is to improve the connection to the local food system for everyone who crosses her path; to create a local, sustainable food system providing direct relationships between farmers and consumers and to introduce children, teens and adults to whole food cooking and nutrition through hands-on and demo/seminar programs in schools, corporate wellness, and camp programs. As a co-founder of Cooking For Real, Denise has combined her love of fresh, whole food cooking with her background in nutrition. She has designed and developed a family-centered approach to nutrition and fitness through summer camps and after-school programs. Denise is a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and holds bachelor degrees in Nutrition and Dietetics (West Chester University) as well as Health and Physical Education.(Rutgers University), and is a licensed Registered Dietitian. |
